Elegance and Elephants Flora Tour
For the Flora Dress and Top I went for a Holiday look in Tunic length. I made two small modifications. First, I made the width of the gathered portion slightly wider for a fuller skirt. Secondly, I opted to go for elastic in the sleeve rather than doing the cuff. I was pleased with the end product.
A few things about this pattern, if you haven’t already read through some of the posts this week. This is a great beginner sew. It doesn’t have any closures. If you don’t do buttons, or zippers you can still make this! Just as a reminder, since this is a woven pattern without closures, there is a lot more ease in the design. It isn’t meant to be fitted, so just be aware. I would suggest that if you are between sizes on the size chart, size down. The Flora has another feature that I enjoyed working with. The neckline isn’t just finished with a face, but a full lining. If you have a girl that is sensitive and doesn’t like to feel seams where the bodice connects to the skirt, this pattern can totally work for you. You could even enclose the sleeve seams if you wished. I didn’t do this because I’m not all about hand stitching, and who has time for that around the holidays? Not this working mamma.
Heidi is offering a bit of a discount for the Flora pattern during this little tour. The coupon code for the 10% discount expires on December 8, 2017 (4pm PST) and the code is: FTD10. Please take advantage of this opportunity while available if you like this pattern. Cant wait to see how your Floras turn out!
For the rest of the tour schedule, head over to Elegance and Elephants for all the details.
Ugh… Do you see that little thread hanging down right there? So annoying. I wish I had the skills to Photoshop that out! Thanks for extending some grace with that little detail. Total Bummer!
