Issie Top for Teens and Women
What is this?! Two posts in one week! I can not believe it’s happening. And.. it may end up being more than that!! I have to say… I love blog tours. When I designer shoots me an email asking me to show off their latest project, I can rarely turn someone down. I love jumping on tours because I am one of those people that is motivated by a deadline. That’s not to say that I don’t procrastinate until the last moment, but it is to say that I know I can make things happen when it comes down to crunch time. I stitched this top up and photographed it Sunday afternoon just in time for this tour. It was a fairly quick sew with some features that add a little something for style.
This post is featuring the newly released Women’s Issie Top from SewPony. There has been a girl’s pattern for some time, and it recently got a nice little update with additional features. Shortly after that update, the women’s pattern released. This tour is highlighting some amazing sewists who are showing off the Women’s Issie Pattern and some of the many features included in the pattern. Be sure to check out these creations that span across a global audience.
I did a combo of the front ruffles, banded waist, and 3/4 length sleeves for this version. I snagged this Tribal print fabric just last week from Cali fabrics. When it arrived I tossed it right into the wash and cut it as soon as the dryer buzzed that it was dry. It’s not my typical “Autumn” palette, but I really like how it turned out. I followed the pattern based on my measurements. The only adjustment I made was to narrow the sleeve a touch. If I had utilized the sleeve cuff and made a long sleeve length, I probably wouldn’t have made that change, but for the hemmed sleeve it worked nicely to bring it in a smidge. I always like to push my sleeves up a bit and this helped to keep them in place.
You can get a sneak of the front ruffles and this fun tribal in this close up. I was nervous about top stitching those ruffles before I tackled them, but the stitching went beautifully. I had no complaints when I was finished. No waves or ripples… just pretty ruffles.

I dug around an found a few photos of a girls Issie I made a while back. My coloring is a bit off, but it’s still a fun top that got worn quite a bit through the colder seasons last year. I’ve got it on my list for this fall, especially with the dress option now available.
