Jeune Pattern {Sew Pony}
A few weeks back I found an email in my inbox from Suz of Sew Pony Patterns asking me to join in on an Instagram tour for her newest pattern, the Jeune Twin Set. I’ve sewn several of her patterns in the past and blogged a few of them. You can find several here, and here. I would describe Sew Pony Patterns as clean, simple, yet classic with a modern twist. I was happy to join in, mostly because I can’t even believe she wanted me to join when I look at her following. She has so many people that are cooler than I am in her community. It’s really an honor to be asked to join in with these awesome people.
Since I’m more of a blogger than an IGer, I wanted to share a post on my blog along with the IG “tour” to share my take on the Jeune Pattern. This pattern actually features a top and a skirt, but I knew my girls would prefer the top with shorts or jeans, so I stuck with that vibe.
The Jeune pattern features a woven, fully lined dolman style top. This top was so quick and easy, even with it being fully lined. The directions were super clear, however I did stop a few times to make sure I wasn’t going to be making any mistakes when doing the last few steps to close up the arms. Overall, I’m super happy with the finished product. I really do think this could be easily adapted to being a fully reversible top. So I’m intrigued by that being an option. l did this entire top in the same fabric, so it isn’t too exciting for this version, but mixing fabrics to make two top in one would definitely be a fun option.
The back of this top includes several cut options. We love this version as it offers a little sass with the angled back pieces. I had a hard time finding buttons that were the perfect fit that I also had duplicates of. I ended up selecting THREE different buttons that shared the same color coding and it is. I actually think the three different buttons are kinda fun! I opted to use seersucker for this version because I wanted to align a bit with the feel of Sew Pony while still pulling in a little bit of my own style.
We got quite a few photos to go show off this make. Presley is always an entertaining model and is quick to clarify her payment before really working a photo shoot. I’ve got so many great future black mail images for when she gets a little older. I’ll try to sneak those into my IG posts.
