Michael Miller Fabrics Paw Prints

Today I’m featuring a fabric from one of Michael Miller Fabrics soon to be released lines, Paw Prints.  This line hits the shelves November 15th, 2018.  This collection features our favorite pets, kittens and puppies plus some additional coordinates to bring all the prints together.  I mean, who doesn’t love an adorable pet print?  But, I have to say… The thing that gets me excited about this particular line is that portions of the sales go towards supporting the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).  Just this fact alone made me feel like I needed to create something for my “little” doggy Quinn to represent all the little critters out there that aren’t able to live their best lives yet.

I received several prints in the  Paw Prints Line from Michael Miller fabrics to feature on my blog.  This is opportunity was made possible due to my partnership with SewingPortfolios.com.  I was selected this year as a Diamond Ambassador to help promote and share about my opportunities in blogging made possible through SewingPortfolios.com.  This site helps to helps to establish connections and relationships between sewing bloggers and businesses. How cool is that?! This is a completely free service to bloggers! You create an account, add your projects to it, and then can share your special portfolio link to business. Businesses can also search for people based on the needs they are looking for.

In this post I’m featuring the Furry Princess Print (pictured above). The other prints I received will be featured on the blog soon.  I created two different projects to pair the fabrics I felt went best together. Furry princess features a soft airy feel with these adorable kittens. My little girls love their dainty flower halos.  They add a nice pop of color to the soft grays of the kittens.  The other prints I’ll be sharing have bright bold colors that grab your eye.  I’ll be sharing about trying my hand at some new skills with those fabrics soon, so be sure to come back and check that out.

To kick off this post, I first created a dress using the Simple Life Pattern Company Ayda for my cat loving daughter.  I chose this pattern because this Furry Princess has some a bit of a vintage vibe to it and the pattern features a circle skirt which I love for a vintage feel.

I also added a fun bias trim on the hemline to spice it up a bit.  Sometime I think people don’t like to use directional fabrics with circle skirts, but if you cut the skirts with two half pieces you can easily utilize directional print with success.

Next, I utilized the scraps remaining to put together a bandanna for our cat loving dog Quinn. When I say cat loving, I mean she would love to eat our cat. 🙂  I created a simple bandanna that attaches to her collar to keep it secure.  It slides through a casing without a need for ties, Velcro, or snaps.  It stays on without a fight and removes easily to go in the wash.

Of course we tried to do some shots with these two together, but pet shoots never quite go the way we plan them. They sure do make some great memories though.
