Sew Americana Tour

Swallowtail6

Happy Fourth of July to all the tour readers!! We are coming up on the end of the Sew Americana tour, and I’m so glad to be a part of what Katy from Wild and Wanderful has put together for you!  The guidelines were to get patriotic and sew something, so that’s what I did.

I don’t do a lot of holiday themed sewing, but I was all about joining this tour with some fun ladies.  And, it was recently pointed out to me (by Jessica Bustos of Lil Luxe Collection) that patriotic clothing can be the most versatile holiday wear.  You can use it for Veteran’s day, Memorial day, Independence Day, and maybe even while watching the Olympics if you want to stretch it a little. (I added the Olympics part in just now.)

I’m definitely moved by the flag when I see it flying! We live in a great country and I’m proud of my family members in the service that have helped to keep it safe and free.  If there is one thing that gets me going at school, it is lack of respect during the pledge!  If people die so we can sit in our schools and get an education, darn-it, you’re gonna stand up for the pledge!  Okay… Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, let’s get to the fun.

This photo my friends… is what it’s really all about.

I made this 4th of July ensemble using the Lil Luxe Collection Swallowtail pattern.  This top is perfect for summer.  The open back helps to keep the heat at bay!  I know I’m just in Indiana, but man it is hot and humid here! (I tested this pattern, so you may have seen a few of my photos during release, but I saved the best for the tour.)  The bottoms are a simple versions of Tadah’s Flexi Shorts.  If you don’t have this pattern, it is super versatile and I love the quality of the patterns in general. #topnotch

Every 4th of July my sister hosts a big gathering/cookout and we watch the city fireworks from her house.  She kinda lives on a back road, but is just close enough to town that we can see the entire show perfectly. Sparklers, Poppers (You know, those white things you throw on the ground that snap), Glowing necklaces, and lemonade will be had by all. If I’m lucky my sister will spike my cup with something a little “special”.

Raise your flags high friends and celebrate our great country! Even though there are many crazy things happening all around us, I’m proud to be an American!
