Simple Life Pattern Company Holiday Blog Tour 2019

It’s another year to be sewing up holiday wear as we approach the season of giving, family, friends, and in my case, Jesus. I’m honored to be asked to join in on this annual tradition of the Simple Life Pattern Company tour yet again. It

It’s that time of year when all the sewists are beginning to plan holiday wear.  For the last several years, I’ve been able to show off holiday looks for my girls using Simple Life Pattern Company patterns.  This year is following suit.  This post includes

Michael Miller Fabrics Paw Prints

Today I’m featuring a fabric from one of Michael Miller Fabrics soon to be released lines, Paw Prints.  This line hits the shelves November 15th, 2018.  This collection features our favorite pets, kittens and puppies plus some additional coordinates to bring all the prints together.  I mean, who doesn’t love an adorable pet print?  But, I have to say… The thing that gets me excited about this particular line is that portions of the sales go towards supporting the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).  Just this fact alone made me feel like I needed to create something for my “little” doggy Quinn to represent all the little critters out there that aren’t able to live their best lives yet.

Callie’s Tie Back Top and Dress {Simple Life Pattern Company}

A Special Occasion Dress Tour with Simple Life Pattern Company

  Holiday Season is upon us!!  Last year I created the girls Christmas dresses in some fun poinsettia quilters cotton.  The dresses were pretty, but also fairly simple and casual.  This year I was asked to join in on a special occasion holiday tour with

Every once in a while I just have to do something quick to have the reward of a completed project.  I’ve been working on several things, but none of them are completed and I was feeling like I was in a slump. Enter Harmony from Simple Life Pattern Company.  A super quick summer sew with a bit of style. *Affiliate links are found in this post.

I’ve been looking for a quick and easy hi-lo dress pattern because our current dress that starts Sunday wars in my house is the Greenery dress from Project Run and Play.  Every week both the Littles argue over who gets to wear it to church.  Can you blame them? It is super fun.

Harmony offers multiple style options.  There is the dramatic (shown here), but also a top, dress, and maxi length are included.  Each of these four can be created with or without a ruffle along the bottom of the dress.  You should know that the pattern includes two different sets of pattern pieces for the ruffle version or the simple version.  Pay attention to the print guide or you may accidentally print both versions.  I may have first hand experience on this.

If you have a fear of closures, this dress is still an option for you.  There is a small tie in the back, but this dress really has enough ease that I think you could leave it out all together.  We didn’t until it to get it off or on.   Even with the generous ease the dress has a finished look due to the elastic waist.  This cinches everything in nicely.

I used seersucker for this version.  It was a perfect look for summer.  This is actually my first time using it. I just feel like it provides a simple and classy elegance to this dress.  I will definitely be using it again.  Maybe I’ll splurge and try a different color too.  As for this particular pattern, any light weight woven with good drape is recommended.  You could even use a knit.  I have a ton of jersey I bought last year with very little stretch I think I may use to make a ruffled version.  I think it will be fantastic.

So that about wraps up my super quick sew for immediate satisfaction.  What do you do to re-motivate and jump start your sewjo?  Is there another quick pattern you would recommend?

I didn’t really start sewing up Simple Life Patterns until about a year ago.  I confess.. I was more of a stalker than a buyer.  I just don’t buy a ton of patterns in general.  I do more fabric hoarding really.  I’m not really sure what started my string of makes, but as I look back on the year I do have several that I have ended up making, testing, and/or blogging.  Along the way I’ve made some great friends too!  I’ve enjoyed the patterns that I’ve sewn and almost every Simple Life creation I have made has been in the “most loved” category with my little girls.  I know there were tears shed when several of the dresses were passed on to other homes.  I’m going to share a collection of a few makes to reminisce at then end of the post.  But for now, let’s check out my latest make!

I don’t know if you saw my Dolly and Me Ayda dress creations or not, but my girls really loved those dresses.  So what is better than a great dress pattern? It’s a great dress pattern created for knits! My girls love comfy cozy knits and they will never turn down a new dress.  The Ayda Top and Dress pattern is so popular, I know people are going to eat up the fact that they can now make it in knit fabrics.

The crossover back on Ayda helps to make it such a quick sew.  Throw in a circle skirt that doesn’t need to be gathered and it is a match made in heaven.  I could crank several of these out at any given moment if needed.

Let’s talk twirl factor!! Do you need this in a dress? My girls are growing more and more fond of twirling now that they have started ballet.  The circle skirt is a perfect match for the twirler inside every little lady.  The fit is great and I love that there are options for both with and without sleeves.

There are so many possible combinations on the site for Ayda when you look at baby sizes, girl sizes, romper add-ons, bundles, and get the look kits.  Here is a quick link to scope out all the options.
