Augusta {Little Lizard King}

Well my friends, it has been a busy blogging week if I do say so myself.  I’ve had quite a few posts and while I’m typing this out I’m printing a pattern to make a costume for a school musical.  I’m almost to the end of my sewing list… except for the last two tasks are the biggest projects I have.  Have you seen that I’m planning to whip up a capsule wardrobe for the twins?  Find all the details here (plus a free capsule planner to download) if you want to join in on this #capsulesewcial.

This final post for the week is featuring a new dress pattern from Little Lizard King.  The Augusta pattern has quite a few features.  It includes two front bodice options, two back options, plus multiple styles of skirts.  The features of this pattern make it a great pattern to make something simple for everyday all the way up to a formal gown.  You choose your options and fabric to make a lovely creation for your needs.  Augusta is on sale for $5.75 through Sunday May 6th and will be listed for $8.50 during regular pricing.  Be sure to check out the listing images for all the options that are available

Our version is the classic bodice with the flat back.  You can see that the closure includes fabric tabs, so even a beginner not comfortable with button holes can tackle this version.  I personally think this could be a great bodice for a zipper without too much modification, so keep that in mind if you are thinking about creating a more formal version.

This dress passed the immediate wear test which is always a good sign.  We took photos on a Saturday and one of the girls woke up Sunday morning with plans to wear this dress to church on Sunday.  The main issue with this dress… now the girls are requesting maxi dresses all the time.  Did you read my post about that recently? Maxis cost so much to make.  I guess I’m a weird.  One way to survive the maxi craze is to get your dress fabric from Hobby Lobby.  Even though it’s always 30% off, you can have it written up at regular price and use a 40% coupon.  That makes it a lot more reasonable.  If you don’t do this with Hobby Lobby fabric… I may have given you a life changing tip.  You are welcome. 🙂

I think this wraps up my sharing for the week.  Come back next week for some additional exciting news.  I’m going to be joining in on a fun project with sponsors from Sewing Portfolios.com, Michael Miller Fabrics, and Babylock.  Ahh!! Babylock!!! Seriously…. I’m pumped about this.
