Patty Young is at is again with another simple pattern that makes great pieces. The Laguna Top Collection features 4 shirt views in just one pattern! If you haven’t sewn up a Modkid pattern yet, this would be a great one to try due to its many options and simplicity of creation. Check out the views below.
For this pattern, I stitched up VIEW B. It features a front ruffle and shoulder ties, but you can definitely leave the front ruffle off for a completely different view as well. I love that this pattern includes a tank style and options with sleeves as well. I don’t typically purchase patterns with only sleeveless option because my oldest can not wear sleeveless to school. I know she still has the entire summer, but it just doesn’t make sense to me to spend the money if it isn’t going to be a versatile pattern.
I’m glad I was able to stitch up VIEW B in this collection be I feel like the bindings involved sometimes scare people away. I have to say, I didn’t even bust out my twin needle for this top. (Though I totally could have, and if I had a coverstitch machine I definitely would have used it!) I followed the directions step by step and used a zig-zag when closing up the bindings. I was very happy with the end result.
This top is light and flowy. I like that is isn’t too fitted as it will be nice and airy for fun in the sun. I also like the tie strap option as this will extend the life of the shirt as my little people grow. I paired this top with some leggings, but I think it is great for any knit bottom (pants, capris, or shorts), woven shorts, or even jeans. Be on the lookout for Modkid to be releasing a legging pattern that will go great with this top too!!
Don’t you just love my little toothless model?! She lost nearly all her front teeth at one time. We aren’t trying to hide it, she is proud she is growing up! 🙂
